The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) has urged landlords never to demand a deposit or top-up payment from NSFAS-funded students.

The Standardised Fixed-Term Lease Agreement states which the lease will be paid regular monthly into the accommodation supplier (lessor) by NSFAS, on behalf from the lessee (NSFAS funded student), in accordance using the NSFAS conditions and terms for personal accommodation vendors’ participation on the student accommodation portal.

"The lessor may not require or permit the lessee to pay for a deposit, top-up payments, or some other varieties of payment to your lessor, or every other nsfas person in reference to this arrangement, like payment of click here rent, even though awaiting payment from NSFAS. The lessor shall have no recourse from the lessee for any default in the payment of rent by NSFAS," the agreement nsfas document submission deadline reads.

The NSFAS terms and conditions for private accommodation vendors’ participation on the student accommodation portal also states that: "Where the NSFAS-funded student is defunded on account of an incorrect selection by NSFAS, the student won't be accountable for payment of any arrear rent into the accommodation supplier, up right until the date of being defunded."

NSFAS spelled out that where the NSFAS-funded student chooses to continue occupying the leased premises, notwithstanding staying nsfas login defunded by NSFAS, the scholar are going to be accountable for payment of lease into the lessor in the date of currently being defunded.
